Anne Alesch

Anne joined the Salem family in 2025 and has been engaged in full-time ministry in Des Moines for almost 15 years after graduating with her Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University. She is currently a chaplain with UnityPoint Hospice, and also teaches theology classes intermittently for Simpson College. It is because of the flexibility of these careers (and her enthusiasm!) that she's also able to serve as one of Salem’s pastors.

In her free time, she adores traveling with her family and exploring the history, landscape, and culture of new places. She also has several hobbies; she loves doing handstands, playing tennis, gardening, reading, paddleboarding, and trying (almost) any new adventure. 

Anne is deeply passionate about creating community, and she's always looking forward to discerning how we can cultivate ongoing opportunities for connection at Salem. Additionally, she loves reflecting on difficult questions and pondering how God might be present for us during various life challenges.

Scott Valentine

Scott has served Salem as Pastor since 2019. He has a passion for Pastoral Care, for teaching confirmation to our youth, and for wrangling kids.

Holly Paulsen

Holly stepped into the Office Manager role beginning in October 2025. She can be reached at office@salem-ucc.com and her office hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 8:30am-12:30pm.  She's excited to be working with everyone at Salem and looks forward to assisting everyone!
